Free Rugby Camp and 2017 Rugby Registration Sunday November,13, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 Central Park Field 9

We welcome anyone who has an interest in being part of a positive, fun and exciting club. Whether you are new to the sport or have played for years, we have an opportunity for you. All we ask is that you being a positive attitude, a desire to learn, a willingness to work hard and respect for the people around you.

Is Rugby safe? Rugby is played all over the world and enjoys one of the lowest injury rates of all major sports. Football programs are now adopting rugby tackling as a way to significantly reduce concussions. The game of rugby is designed to reward speed, flexibility and technique rather than sheer force of contact. The rules are very specific as to how and when contact can be made.

Cost: The $300.00 club fee includes required membership to So. Cal. Youth Rugby (SCYR) and USA Rugby, shorts, socks, and a practice jersey. (**Get a friend to sign up that has never played for SCV Youth Rugby, and you will get a $25 discount on your registration fee.)

Rugby in Rio: The 92 Year Hiatus Ends

After last appearing in the Summer Olympics in 1924, rugby will be making its return to the Olympic stage in Rio de Janeiro, this time under the free-flowing and exciting Sevens format and featuring both men’s and women’s competitions. Interesting note: The USA won the last Olympic rugby competition in 1924, routing Romania 37-0 and taking home the gold in a 17-3 victory over Olympics host France. 92 years later, the men have an opportunity to defend their long-idle crown, but will face stiff competition from international powerhouses New Zealand, Fiji, Argentina, South Africa and Australia. It will be an exciting 6 days of rugby, you won’t want to miss the action. Games will be broadcast on NBCSN, USA, CNBC and MSNBC and all events can be streamed at http://www.nbcolympics.com/live-stream-schedule
