Rugby in Rio: The 92 Year Hiatus Ends

After last appearing in the Summer Olympics in 1924, rugby will be making its return to the Olympic stage in Rio de Janeiro, this time under the free-flowing and exciting Sevens format and featuring both men’s and women’s competitions. Interesting note: The USA won the last Olympic rugby competition in 1924, routing Romania 37-0 and taking home the gold in a 17-3 victory over Olympics host France. 92 years later, the men have an opportunity to defend their long-idle crown, but will face stiff competition from international powerhouses New Zealand, Fiji, Argentina, South Africa and Australia. It will be an exciting 6 days of rugby, you won’t want to miss the action. Games will be broadcast on NBCSN, USA, CNBC and MSNBC and all events can be streamed at http://www.nbcolympics.com/live-stream-schedule
